"La Settimana di Rabarama" - 27 Marzo 2015

Questa settimana è stata intensissima! 
Il viaggio a Las Vegas per partecipare a One Night for One Drop con il Cirque du Soleil è stata una  bellissima esperienza, con persone così stimolanti e energetiche. Ho partecipato anche quest'anno donando una mia opera per l'asta di beneficenza per aiutare la fondazione One Drop nei suoi progetti per portare acqua potabile e chi soffre la sete nel mondo. 
Poi appena tornata in Italia, dopo una tappa a Miami per alcuni affari :), subito in fonderia a rifinire delle opere e in atelier a terminarne altre.

Vi ho presentato in particolare due sculture, A-ttenzione ed Aspir-azione, due soggetti storici per me (li trovate qui: http://www.rabarama.info/#!sculptures/ccj4 ) e un dipinto del 1999, esibito in due importantissime mostre per la mia carriera: Labirinto Mentale (è qui: http://www.rabarama.info/#!painting-labirinto-mentale/c5gx ). Una tappa molto importante della mia storia artistica!

Nel mondo della scienza si stanno muovendo molte cose: sarà un anno decisivo nell'esplorazione spaziale (vedi le missioni verso Ceres ed Europa ad esempio) e nella comprensione della realtà: mi ha molto colpito la notizia del prossimo esperimento del Cern con un acceleratore di particelle che “è pronto per aprire un “portale” tra gli Universi paralleli”...veramente i confini tra scienza e fantascienza stanno sparendo! Come artista sono felice di vedere come spesso l'arte (in questi casi la letteratura fantascientifica) possa ispirare la ricerca scientifica...
La notizia dell'aereo passeggeri tedesco schiantato sulle Alpi è sconvolgente se risulterà vero quello che pare, cioè che uno dei piloti abbia fatto schiantare volontariamente l'aereo per “suicidarsi”...quali “demoni” si annidano dentro alcune persone?  Terribile...
Per fortuna arrivano anche notizie positive dal mondo:  pare che gli sforzi per aiutare chi soffre la sete stiano iniziando ad avere successo a livello globale (anche grazie a fondazioni con One Drop!).

Italian Art to Benefit World Water Day at One Night for One Drop by Cirque du Soleil

In March 20, 2015 in Las Vegas, Cirque du Soleil  will stage a great show to support  One Drop foundation in its struggle to ensure access to safe water to all those who have none. At the soireé are invited world-class VIPs, artists and celebrities: from Italy there will be the artist Rabarama that will also donate one of her important works for the charity auction to benefit the foundation.

One Drop foundation was born a few years ago thanks to the founder and owner of the Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberté (also known for being one of the first private citizen to make a space trip, thirty-nine days aboard the International Space Station).

The event, entitled One Night for One Drop, is celebrated on March 20, 2015 in Las Vegas, in the vicinity of the World Water Day, to ensure the support and funding of One Drop foundation, which is currently engaged in projects of water-supply  (in Africa, Central America and India) involving approximately one million people that are finally coming out of constant water scarcity.

The combination of philanthropy, art and entertainment is dued to the personality of Guy Laliberté, for his life experience and his passion for contemporary art (in his collection also works by Rabarama): his career began as a street fire-eater and today is one of the richest people in the world, inventor and leader of the world's most famous circus.

Laiberté is an admirer of Rabarama who was invited to the important event again this year, as told by the artist: "Since some years I personally know Guy Laliberte, owner of Cirque du Soleil and founder of One Drop: an extraordinary person who has turned his childhood dream in a great reality, the best circus in the world, never forgetting those in need. His dedication to the cause for assisting people who suffer because of the lack of drinking water (one in three people in the world) is admirable and I am proud to be working in this noble initiative. "

Also this year the event in Las Vegas will be the biggest show of 2015, combining all the best artists and professionals of the Cirque in a unique choral performance, before the eyes of personalities taking part from all over the world and in favor of those who suffer thirst and water-borne diseases, problems that will be expected to worsen in coming decades also becoming one of the biggest threats to peace,  according to many climate-change scenarios.

while promoting self-reliance through innovative water access and management projects.

I would like to thank the Cirque du Soleil and One Drop for the appreciation they have for my work and I'm so happy to contribute with my art to help so many people that have life treatning problems related to water access: I will donate one of my works to the silent auction that will be held to benefit One Drop.

A lake on the mountain:
The image of influence.
Thus the superior man encourages people to approach him
By his readiness to receive them.

A mountain with a lake on its summit is stimulated by the moisture from 
the lake. It has this advantage because its summit does not jut out as a peak 
but is sunken. The image counsels that the mind should be kept humble and 
free, so that it may remain receptive to good advice. People soon give up 
counseling a man who thinks that he knows everything better than anyone 
else.

The series of my works inspired by the hexagrams Chinese oracle I'Ching has so impressed the Cirque du Soleil that in 2013 yjey have made a part of their show with the artists who wore suits made in the likeness of my works  in a performance on water, at the Bellagio in Las Vegas Palace, an amazing sight !! (a little moment here and  here you can also see my artwork donated to the charity auction)

Rabarama and Cirque du Soleil:

During the night of March, 22 at the O theatre in Bellagio Palace, Las Vegas, the famous Cirque du Soleil staged the most important show of its history, to benefit One Drop foundation.
One important part of the show was inspired directly by Rabarama's art, with two performers who appeared as Rabarama's living sculptures, dancing over the water and with a giant 3D projection of the Rabarama's artwork Chi-Chi (this artwork was auctioned during the event):

History:

A marvelous idea began to take shape in the early 1980’s in Baie-Saint-Paul, a charming village nestled on the north shore of the St-Lawrence River, east of Quebec City. Les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul (‘The Stiltwalkers of Baie-Saint-Paul’), a theatre troupe founded by Gilles Ste-Croix, walked on stilts, juggled, danced, breathed fire and played music. These young entertainers, among whom was Cirque du Soleil-founder Guy Laliberté, constantly impressed and intrigued Baie-Saint-Paul’s residents.

In 1984, during Quebec’s 450th anniversary celebrations of Jacques Cartier’s discovery of Canada, the province sought an event which would bring the festivities to all Quebecers. Guy Laliberté convinced organisers the answer was a provincial tour of Cirque du Soleil performers and it hasn’t stopped since!

From then on, Cirque du Soleil tale is that of a remarkable bond between artists and spectators from around the world. And it is the latter who feed the sacred fire of Cirque du Soleil.
